Kyrgyzstan digital nomad visa & residency (2026)
Kyrgyzstan shaded by its digital nomad & residency status
Kyrgyzstan enacted a permanent Digital Nomad status regime in May 2025 (replacing a pilot program), granting ICT and tech professionals from 61 eligible countries the right to live and work without a separate work permit for up to 10 years through annual renewals. An online application platform was launched in December 2025. Citizens of visa-required countries must additionally obtain a dedicated 'DN'-type visa.
Key points
Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 241, signed April 30, 2025, came into force mid-May 2025. It permanently replaced the earlier pilot project and codified the Digital Nomad status for foreign nationals.
Open to specialists in information and communication technologies, software development, and related high-tech fields. Citizens of 61 nations qualify; visa-free countries apply directly while others (USA, UK, Germany, Japan, South Korea, etc.) must also obtain a 'DN'-type visa.
Status is initially granted for 60 days, extendable to 1 year, then renewable annually for a maximum of 10 years. No minimum income requirement was in place as of May 2025, though the resolution foreshadows possible future thresholds.
Digital Nomad status holders are exempt from mandatory residence registration for the first 60 days, do not require a work permit, and may register as individual entrepreneurs or company founders and open local bank accounts without residential registration.
Fully online via the Government Services (e-gov.kg) portal, launched December 2025. Applications are processed within seven working days of submitting a complete document package.
Kyrgyzstan does not operate a formal residency- or citizenship-by-investment (golden visa) program. An investment visa category exists under a 2017 instruction, but it does not confer residency by investment in the European golden-visa sense.
