Chad digital nomad visa & residency (2026)

Chad does not appear in any official or comprehensive listing of countries offering dedicated digital nomad or remote-work visas as of 2026. No such category exists under Chadian immigration law.

Any foreigner intending to work in Chad must have a Chadian employer submit an employment authorisation request to ONAPE (Office National pour la Promotion de l'Emploi) and the Ministry of Labour before signing a labour contract. Self-employed or freelance remote workers employed abroad have no equivalent mechanism.

Employment authorisations and associated work permits are capped at one year and are renewable. Holders must also obtain a residence card and a long-stay visa; there is no automatic progression to permanent residency.

Chad operates no residency-by-investment or golden visa programme. Major investment-migration databases and advisories (Henley & Partners, Immigrant Invest) do not list Chad among countries offering such schemes.

Remote workers may enter Chad on a short-stay tourist or business visa for temporary periods, but there is no formal authorisation to work remotely for a foreign employer during such a stay, and no long-stay category exists for this purpose.

The U.S. Department of State maintains a Level 4 'Do Not Travel' advisory for Chad due to crime, terrorism, civil unrest, and kidnapping, which is a significant practical barrier independent of immigration law.
