Antigua and Barbuda digital nomad visa & residency (2026)
Antigua and Barbuda shaded by its digital nomad & residency status
Antigua and Barbuda's dedicated Nomad Digital Residence (NDR) Programme, launched October 2020, was officially discontinued on November 15, 2025 per a formal government notice published on ab.gov.ag. As of May 2026, no successor dedicated digital nomad visa has been announced; remote workers and long-stay relocators may instead pursue the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programme or standard residency permits through the Department of Immigration.
Key points
The Nomad Digital Residence Programme — a 2-year stay visa for remote workers earning ≥ USD 50,000/year — was formally terminated on November 15, 2025 per an official government notice. No new applications are being accepted.
As of May 2026, the Antigua and Barbuda government has not announced a successor digital nomad or dedicated remote-work visa. The legacy NDR portal (nomad.gov.ag) remains online but is no longer operational for new applicants.
The CBI programme, governed by the Citizenship by Investment Act and administered by cip.gov.ag, grants full citizenship (not just residency) from USD 230,000 (National Development Fund, family of up to four). Investment thresholds were raised in August 2024. Only a 5-day physical presence in the first five years is required.
The Department of Immigration issues standard residency permits under general immigration law, available to those who can demonstrate financial self-sufficiency, but these carry no dedicated remote-work or income-from-abroad category and are not tailored to digital nomads.
Antigua and Barbuda levies no personal income tax, wealth tax, capital-gains tax, or inheritance tax. Non-residents are taxed only on locally sourced income, making the jurisdiction attractive to relocators via any available pathway.
While active (2020–2025), the NDR charged USD 1,500 (single), USD 2,000 (couple), or USD 3,000 (family of up to four), required proof of USD 50,000 annual income and health insurance, and processed applications online within 5–7 business days. Holders paid no local income tax on foreign earnings.
