EigenLayer slashing went live on mainnet in April 2026, exposing roughly fifteen billion dollars in restaked ETH to real losses for the first time. Large operators opt into twenty or more AVSs simultaneously, so a single operational failure can trigger slashing across all of them at once. When that happens, every AVS relying on that operator loses security budget simultaneously, but no AVS has any mechanism to see it coming. No monitoring tool today surfaces correlated operator exposure across the restaking ecosystem in real time, so by the time anyone notices, the cascade has already run.
