What closes my DeFi positions when my agent goes silent?
Opportunity
AI agents now hold open positions across lending protocols, perpetual exchanges, and liquidity pools, but there is no standard on-chain primitive for what happens when the agent stops responding. If the agent loses context, crashes, or is abandoned, those positions accumulate risk indefinitely with no keeper designed to recognize and close them safely. The January 2026 Step Finance breach showed how a dormant agent left in a privileged state drained $45 million before anyone noticed the agent had gone dark. Existing keeper networks were built to liquidate undercollateralized human-initiated positions, not to recover or unwind the full state of a crashed autonomous agent that may hold multiple correlated positions across protocols. No protocol has yet defined a dead-man's-switch standard that an agent can register at position-open time so that a trustless recovery network can close the po
Why it matters
Trustless position custody needs an orderly-unwind primitive before AI-managed DeFi TVL can scale without systemic abandonment risk.
How I score the opportunity
The Opportunity Score is my own read, not a measurement: how much it hurts, how often it bites, and how little exists to solve it today. Higher means I think it is more worth building.
How much pain it causes when it shows up.
How often people actually run into it.
How little good tooling exists for it today.
