Why can my heirs inherit my assets but not my accounts?

UK legislation in late 2025 formally recognized digital assets as property and courts can now order access for heirs, but platform terms of service routinely block execution because there is no machine-readable format for presenting a legal order that platforms are obliged to honor. My crypto wallet, photo library, and social account each require different ad hoc procedures that often conflict with one another and with the legal instrument. No neutral third party can verify heirship in a form that passes through an API handshake. The person who needs to authorize the transfer signed nothing in advance, and there is no cross-platform standard for posthumous credential delegation.
